چکیده
Abstract Structural changes of cellulose microfibrils and microfibril bundles in unmodified spruce cell wall due to drying air were investigated using time-resolved small-angle neutron scattering (SANS). The analysis was supported with dynamic vapor sorption (DVS) measurements quantify the macroscopic kinetics. Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations carried out aid understanding molecular-level wood-water interactions during drying. Both SANS experiments support notion that individual remain relatively unaffected by There is, however, a significant decrease fibril-to-fibril distances bundles. DVS showed two distinct regions: constant-rate falling-rate This also MD simulation results. shrinking fibril starts at boundary these regions, which is accompanied strong diffusivity water between microfibrils. Aggregation in ferrofluids studied by Neutron Small Angle Scattering
2014 Neutron Small Angle Scattering has been used to follow processes of particle aggregation in ferrofluids under various conditions of temperature and externally applied magnetic field. Cobalt particles, stabilized in toluene by one of two surfactant materials, showed neutron scattering characteristic of highly aggregated systems. Low temperature quenching in a strong magnetic field caused ph...
متن کاملAggregation of imidazolium ionic liquids in molecular liquids studied by small-angle neutron scattering and NMR.
The aggregation of two imidazolium-based ionic liquids, 1-ethly-3-methylimidazolium chloride (EMI(+)Cl(-)) and EMI(+) bis-(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)amide (EMI(+)TFSA(-)), in molecular liquids, water, methanol, acetonitrile, and benzene, has been studied by using the small-angle neutron scattering (SANS) technique. The SANS results have shown that the heterogeneity of EMI(+)Cl(-)-acetonitrile mi...
متن کاملStructural characterization of ionic gelator studied by dynamic light scattering and small-angle neutron scattering.
Structural characterization of a hydrogel consisting of an oligomeric electrolyte, poly[pyridinium-1,4-diyliminocarbonyl-1,4-phenylenemethylene chloride] (1-Cl) as an ionic gelator was carried out by static and dynamic light scattering (SLS/DLS) and small-angle neutron scattering (SANS) techniques. All the measurements were performed by changing the concentration and temperature. We have succes...
متن کاملSmall angle neutron scattering
Small Angle Neutron Scattering (SANS) is a technique that enables to probe the 3-D structure of materials on a typical size range lying from ∼ 1 nm up to ∼ a few 100 nm, the obtained information being statistically averaged on a sample whose volume is ∼ 1 cm3. This very rich technique enables to make a full structural characterization of a given object of nanometric dimensions (radius of gyrati...
